Notes for William Boardman:

Came to Australia in 1838 with his Wife and eldest Son. Second Son was born at sea on way out

to Australia. They were first employed by James & William MacArthur at Camden Park.

The original Australian Boardman family dates back to 1838, when William Boardman, with his

wife and eldest son, came out from England. Another son was born at sea during the long six

months' journey. The family first settled under the employ of William and James Macarthur. In

1841 William Boardman took up the property now called "Lynn Farm", the home of Mr. F.

Doust, and reared a family of six sons and four daughters, viz. Messrs. Joseph, John, Izaac,

Reuben, William and James: the daughters were Mrs. J. Pearson, Mrs. Med(t)calf, Mrs. Fred

Nash and Mrs Smith. It was the late Reuben Boardman who spent the whole of his life identified

with Camden, making his home on the Cawdor Road. He was born at the old home "Lynn Farm"

in 1845, and his family continued to have local interest; they are Messrs Edwin (Bowral),

Frederick, Ray, Harold and Charles, also the Misses Boardman of Camden. John Boardman,

another son of the original William Boardman, settled on the land at Berrima and Taralga, after

the construction of the railway to Mittagong. Later John Boardman made his home at Picton

where he founded the dairy so well known as "Daisy Vale". His sons are Joseph, John and T.

W. Boardman. - The Town of Camden  William and family moved from cawdor to "Rosleigh"

Cargo 1896/7, grew wheat & raised sheep at Canowindra. Returned in 1908.
