Norman enlisted with the A.I.F. on the 7th August 1917 at Orange, New South Wales.

He is described as 5ft 6in 8st 1lb with a Dark complexion, Hazel eyes and Black hair.

He was transferred to the 1st Battalion. Norman saw service in France where he was

wounded (gun shot wound abdomen and face) in action in the field on the 21st

September 1918. He was invalided to England and admitted to the Military Hospital,

Edmonton. Norman returned to Australia on the 4th August 1919 and was discharged

from service on the 5th October 1919.

1915 he was promoted to Sergeant. On the 1st April 1916 he was promote to Sergeant Major.

Edward saw service in Egypt and the Middle East. On the 23rd August 1916 he was admitted to

the 3rd Australian General Hospital, Abbassia with Nile Fever. In April 1917 he was transferred

from Egypt for England and France. In May 1918 he was Squadron Sergeant Major with the Army

Veterinary Corps. Edward returned to Australia on the 15th May 1919 and was discharged from

service on the 7th July 1919.
