Percy's initial enlistment in August 1915 he was "discharged as required for
munitions
factory"
Percy then re-enlisted with the A.I.F. on the 24th November 1915 at
Casula, New
South Wales. He is described as 5ft 10in. 134lbs with a Dark complexion, Blue
eyes and
Black hair. Percy saw service in Egypt and France where he was wounded (gun shot
wound loin) in action on the 15th August 1916 he was transferred to England and
admitted to the Alexandria Hospital, Cosham, Portsmouth (dangerously ill). He
rejoined
his Battalion in France on the 13th March 1917. Percy was awarded the
Military
Medal in the field on the 15th December 1917. In January 1918 he was
awarded leave
to the UK to the 1st February 1918. He then rejoined his Battalion in the field.
He
returned to Australia on the 9th September 1919 and was discharged from service
on
the 7th December 1919
