Notes for Charles Arthur Avery:

Charles enlisted with the A.I.F. on the 4th February 1916 at Kempsey. He is described

as 5ft 9 1/2in. 154lbs with a Dark complexion, Hazel eyes and Dark hair. Charles saw

service in France and Belgium where he was wounded in action in the field on the 5th

June 1917, after rejoining his unit he was wounded (gun shot wounds left shoulder,

hand and left leg)  in action in the field for the 2nd time on the 10th July 1917. He was

transferred to England and admitted to the 1st Eastern General Hospital, Cambridge.

Charles returned to Australia on the 3rd January 1918 and was discharged from service

on the 5th February 1918.
