By 1726, Ollives Farm
consisted of two freehold tenements: Glydwish otherwise Washers, the
subject of this deed, was
held of the manor of Burghurst by a quitrent of 1s, and another freehold
tenement, late Jarman, was
held of the manor of Burwash by a quitrent of 5s 7d. Jarman's former
ownership, coupled with the
western abuttal of the deed of 1626, allows the Burwash tenement to
be located as the western
element of Ollives. Both were owned by James Tompsett in 1726 (ASH
202). The farm was further
augmented at its south-eastern corner by a grant from the waste (CHR
18). The northern abuttal -
Brailsham Farm, a watermill and 46a owned by John a Crouch in 1623,
was purchased by the
Heathfield Park estate in 1783 and subsequently known as Mill farm: see
ADA box
