Alexander enlisted with the A.I.F. on the 7th July 1916 at Newcastle. He is described

as 5ft 9 1/2in. 180lbs with a Dark complexion, Grey eyes and Dark Brown hair.

Alexander saw service in France where he was wounded (gun shot wound face and

chest) in action in the field on the 13th August 1918. He died from his wounds on the

16th August 1918 in the 14th General Hospital, Boulogne. Alexander's father received

his personal effects on the 10th April 1919. These included a letter from the Bank of

New South Wales (London Branch) re-mittance 20 pounds dated May 23rd 1918. I
