in France where he was wounded (gassed) in action in the
field on the 29th March

Eastern General Hospital,
Brighton, Sussex. Alexander rejoined his Battalion in the
field in France from wounded in
October 1918. He returned to Australia on the 11st
August 1919 and was discharged from
service on the 18th September 1919.
