William enlisted with the
A.I.F. on the 17th August 1914 at Randwick, Sydney. He
states that he served with
the 3rd Bushman's Contingent in South Africa for 16 months
until discharge. He is
described as 5 ft 5 1/2in. with a Fair complexion, Grey eyes and
Fair hair. William saw
service at Gallipoli where he was wounded (gun shot wound
buttock) in action in the
field. He was admitted to Hospital in Cairo and later rejoined
his unit at Gallipoli.
William was then admitted to Aust. Southern Hospital with
"Enteric". William was
then admitted to No. 21 General Hospital in Alexandria
suffering from Typhoid Fever
in November 1915. He was then transferred to the Royal
Victoria Hospital, Netley,
England. He was discharged as Medically Unfit on the 14th
September

hair. Hubert saw service in
France where he was wounded (gun shot wound head) in
action in the field on the
27th May 1918. Hubert rejoined his Battalion in France on the
4th August 1918 and then
promoted to Lance Corporal on the 6th October 1918. He
was granted leave in Paris
from the 4th March 1919 to the 24th march 1919 when he
rejoined his Battalion.
Hubert returned to Australia on the 15th July 1919 and was
discharged from service on
the 21st August 1919.
