Marriage Notes for
George Metcalfe and Elizabeth Cuthbert:
I have checked the marriage
register of Battle (ref PAR 236/1/1/4) and can confirm that
George
Metcalfe of Battle,
bachelor, and Elizabeth Cuthbert of Battle, spinster, were married by banns
on 1 Jan 1806, and the
witnesses were Sarah P Kenward and William Metcalf.
... East Sussex Records
Office March 2003
It is interesting to note that most
of George's sons had themselves Baptised at St Mary the
Virgin Church of England, Battle two
years after the death of their father.
I've placed a story about what
happened to the original Unitarian Church and Graves at the
Parish Clerks site at :- http://www.sussex-opc.org/ -
