Holohan:
Michael Holohan born in
Killkenny, Ireland in 1811 with his wife Judith Hogan (also known as
Julia Egan,
born
1820 in Ballyragget, Killkenny, Ireland came to NSW aboard the "Lady
Kennaway" in 1841 as
bounty
passengers. They where employed by
Mrs. Lowe to work on her
property at Bringellly, wages agreed to be 21
Pounds per annum, with rations.
Their first child Thomas
was born at Bringelly on the 13th December, 1841. He was baptised at
the All Saints Church,
Campblletown. A second son Michael,
was born at Spring Creek on the
8th November, 1843, baptised at
St Nicholas of Myra, Penrith, as
was Mary was born at
Greendale
on the
26th December, 1847, James born Vermont on the 10th February, 1850 (died at
an early
age.)
Judith (Julia) born 9th August, 1851 baptised at St. Johns Church. A second
James born the
5th
September, 1852. William, 22nd October, 1855 Spring Creek. Martin born
Spring Creek 10th
October, 1861.
The records of the children
show that their mother Judith was also known as Julia Egan and
their father Michael Holohan/
Wholohan? Houlohan/ Whoolohan.
Michael who was listed as
Michael Huolahan of Therese Park bought 100 acres of land in
the
County of Camden, at Clay
Water Holea near Therese Park. His name appears on the early
maps.
Michael passed away on the
23rd September, 1888, at Brownlow Hill, Camden. He was buried
at
the Roman Catholic Cemetry
at The Oaks. Julia died on the 6th
September, 1907.
