William Enlisted with the A.I.F. on the 17th May 1915 at Liverpool, Sydney. He is

described as 5ft 6 3/4 in. 158 lbs with a Dark complexion, Brown eyes and Black hair.

William saw service in France where he was wounded Gun shot wound to the face and

then suffering from appendicitis) in action on the 27th July 1916. He was transferred to

England in August 1916. He was admitted to Hospitals in Cambridge and Weymouth.

William rejoined his unit in France on the 5th September 1918 and was again wounded

(Gun shot wound foot) in action on the 18th September 1918 and again invalided to

England.
William was wounded on at least 4 occassions

  Phillip Kennedy was educated to high school level Araluen Public School. He worked as a

student teacher at the age of 14 years at Moodong Creek on the Duea River near Araluen. He

attended Sydney Teachers College (then at Blackfriars on Buckland and Blackfriats STs.

Broadway sydney) about 1885 at the age of 18 years. He later taught at Runnymeade

Murrumburrah - Harden, and North Newtown Public schools. He graduated M.A> in 1903 from

Sydney University at the age of 36 years. He was appointed Headmaster at Hay Public School in 1908.
