DEATH OF MRS RUBY
PATON
The death occurred in the
Gundagai
District Hospital on Tuesday last of Mrs Ruby
Paton.
She was 66 years of age, and
had lived all her life in Gundagai.
She is survived by her
loving husband and 12 children, Ann, Joan, Fay, Shirley, Vera
and Teenie (Gundagai), Henry
and John (Tumut), Beverley (Sydney), Dulcie
(Canberra), Gregory (Sawtell), Margaret (Groote, England).
She is also survived by 34
grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
The funeral took place on
Thursday leaving the St James' Church for the South
Gundagai cemetery.

DEATH OF HENRY GEORGE
PATON
As briefly reported in our
last issue, the death occurred last week of Henry George
Paton, a life time resident
of Gundagai at the age of 79 years.
His funeral took place last
Wednesday afternoon.
The cortege moved to the
South Gundagai cemetery, after a service in St.
James'
Church conducted by the Rev. W. E.
Wright.
Henry Paton lived all his
life in Gundagai.
He was a devoted father and
family man.
Much of his working life he
worked for the Gundagai Shire Council, and also for the
Dept. of Main
Roads.
His wife Ruby predeceased
him in 1972.
Surviving children are
Dulcie (Canberra), Brother and Jack (Tumut), Greg
(Sawtell),
Beverly (Sydney), Vera
(Cootamundra), Teeney, Joan, Shirley, Margaret, Fay and
Ann *Gundagai).
He is survived by forty one
grandchildren and twenty one great grandchildren.
Sisters Martha, Muriel, Amy,
Vide, Olive, Salina Enid and Ivy, and brothers Clive and
Perc also
survive.

BILL BENNET'S
DEATH
William thomas (Bill)
Bennett passed away last Friday at St. Andrew's Nursing Home
in Ballina aged 94
years.
Bill was born and raised in
Gundagai where he was involved in the building,
automotive
and
hospitality industries.
Bill was from the old school
of tradesmen and was multi-skilled.
He built many houses in
Gundagai undertaking the building, plastering, tiling and even
some of the
plumbing.
He also spent time working
as a motor mechanic.
During World War II Bill was
"manpowered".
Being the owner and operator
of a wood carting business at the time, he was required
to provide wood for essential
services in Gundagai including the local hospital.
Bill built the Boomerang
Cafe (now the veterinary surgery) which he operated for
many years with his wife,
Vera.
He retired to Ballina in the
early 1970s where he pursued his passion for
fishing.
He often stayed at the
Gundagai Services Club flat at Merimbula during the blackfish
season.
He is survived by his
daughter, Pat and son, Bruce, six grandchildren, eleven great
grandchildren and one great
great grandchild.
A cremation will be held at
Lismore tomorrow (Tuesday).
